Giving

Deuteronomy 15:7-11:
Instructs Israel not to harden the heart or shut the hand against a needy neighbor, acknowledging that poverty persists while commanding willing, open-handed generosity.
Psalm 24:1:
"The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it."
Acts 4:32-35:
With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them.
Why do we give?
The Bible encourages us to give cheerfully to the work of the Lord (2 Corinthians 9:7). At St John's Anglican Parish, we love to contribute financially, as well as by using our gifts and skills to serve our church and wider community. We do this because we love the Lord and the people around us, and we know that we have been blessed. We have also been reminded in passages like Deuteronomy 15:7-11 and Acts 4:32-35 to remember, and take care of those around us who are in need.
How is the money used?
As a church we encourage each other to give financially to the day-to-day operations of the Churches in our Parish and broader needs of the Christian community. Our funds are used to:
-
Support our Clergy
-
Maintain the church building and grounds
-
Contribute to the needs of our local community
-
Support missionaries serving locally and abroad
